FAQs — Answers in Plain Ink

Common questions about edits, timelines, revisions, and how to send your draft. Calm, clear answers — and a direct route to Book an Edit.

Questions writers ask first

What's the difference between proofreading, line editing, and deep editing?

Proofreading: surface errors — grammar, punctuation, spelling. Think of it as running a pen along the margins for mechanical fixes.

Line editing: sentence-level phrasing, tone, and readability while preserving your voice. I polish sentences so your voice reads clearer and truer.

Deep edit (substantive/structural): structure, transitions, pacing, and logic — reshaping chapters or arguments so the whole piece flows and persuades.

How do I submit my document and get a quote?

  1. Use the booking form: https://forms.gle/UzoShY5HaAYMGT3f7.
  2. Or email your file and a short brief to quietquillediting@gmail.com.
  3. You’ll receive a price and timeline in 24–48 hours on weekdays (up to 72 hours on weekends/high volume).

Quotes include a starting per-word rate and a final schedule. Final charges may vary slightly with scope and turnaround.

How long will my edit take?

Typical reply/quote: 24–48 hours, Monday–Friday. Weekend or high-volume replies may take up to 72 hours. Turnaround for completed edits depends on length and scope and will be provided in the quote.

What file formats do you accept?

Common formats accepted: Word (.doc/.docx), Google Docs link, PDF. If you use another format, mention it in your submission and I’ll confirm acceptance.

Note: This acceptance list is suggested and should be confirmed with the editor if you have an uncommon format.

What’s included in one round of revisions?

One round of revisions lets you request clarifications and minor adjustments after the initial edit. Major rewrites are scoped separately and will be quoted if requested.

How is confidentiality handled?

All communications are handled by email or the booking form and are read only by the single editor. If you require an NDA, mention it in your submission and I will accommodate it where possible.

What payment methods are accepted?

Payment details and methods are provided in the quote email.

Note: Specific payment methods are not published on the site and will be confirmed in the quote.
